Would horror film lovers enjoy this film?

Unlike most people, we saw this film after seeing hundreds of other horror films. This was not the first horror film that a lot of us at Eff Your Review saw, meaning that we don’t have the nostalgia of being petrified of this film from a younger age. Back in 1973 when this film was first created, The Exorcist would have easily scared the hell out of anyone, but after seeing hundreds of horror films in the past few months, then watching this one, we unfortunately don’t think that it can compare as strongly to some of the incredible films that we have recently reviewed.

We really wanted to love this film, because of the love that its fans hold. But we don’t think that it would be fair for us to pretend to be scared of a film and therefore lie in our review in order to please people that have a love for it. If you love old fashioned horror films, then of course you will love this film. But if you are more interested in new-style horror then you may not think that it can compare to other horror films that are recently reviewed highly such as Hereditary, Martyrs or Incident in a Ghost Town. Overall, The Exorcist is a really good film, but did we find it scary? Controversially, no. We’re sorry!
